Regenerating Buildings, Revitalising Communities
This afternoon, board member Adrian Lester attended the council's follow-up meeting to the call for evidence in their Scrutiny Inquiry into Community Asset Transfer (CAT).
As in our written submission, SCH held up as examples other Councils with a more positive attitude toward CAT, and spoke to the benefits which can be afforded both to provision of services by the third sector and maintenance of built infrastructure. On the subject of custodianship of public assets, we made the point that where the council is unable to fulfil that role, the responsible course of action may be to transfer the physical asset to the third sector where a sustainable plan for its future can be demonstrated.
